4 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage (May 27)
2. That Awesome Opener
Let's be honest about something: Bryan Danielson could walk out to the ring, crack an egg then bow and some wrestling fans would give it better star ratings than anything else on the show. That's a joke, obviously, but it's nonetheless true that D-Bry's work is often unparalleled regardless of setting/opponent/match time.
He was awesome again during that opener vs. Matt Sydal.
Being fair, the ex-Evan Bourne met Bryan halfway and matched him step-for-step throughout what turned out to be the match of the night. The way Danielson tried to ground Sydal and stop him from launching aerial attacks was especially interesting.
Kudos to the announcers for selling Sydal as someone who could take Bryan to his limits too. He's hardly the most pressing concern as a singles worker in AEW these days, so it was a lovely change of pace to position Matt as a crafty veteran himself.
