4 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage (May 5)

1. Anyone Else Over It?

These "Hardy Compound" scraps were never everyone's bag to begin with, and it's safe to assume some folks out there in wrestling land will still enjoy the silliness. That's fine, but the dude writing this piece believes they're old hat now. "The Firm Deletion" was a miss from start to finish.

AEW shoving a picture-in-picture ad break in the middle is almost hilarious. The only redeeming moment from the whole thing? Stokely Hathaway yelling, "Tony Khan will pay for his crimes". That's appropriate after this nonsense; what the f*ck is up with Matt Hardy returning to his "Broken/Woken" character when he's shown literally no sign of that on TV before now too?

Weird.

Time for some harsh reality. Does anybody really need to see another one of these matches again? It's the sort of thing pro wrestling should've left behind in the pandemic days of 2020, and it dragged despite a relatively short length.
