4 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage (Sept 1)

2. What Was Achieved Here?

Hangman Page
AEW

Whilst it's definitely nice to see someone the calibre of Hangman Page wrestle on Rampage, something else must be said: Page's match vs. Bryan Keith achieved next to nothing. It was obviously a speed bump for Hangman anyway, but if the goal was to present Keith as a credible threat then that failed too.

This was a borderline squash more than anything else.

The cowboy stuff AEW crudely crammed in was half-baked as well. Honestly, All Elite jogs through story beats like this far too quickly when they could spend weeks getting there. Nope, it's apparently best to introduce the 'Bounty Hunter' Bry, then have Hangman hammer him in approx three minutes.

Again, cool to see Page on Rampage, but that was about it. Also, the dude was working his first televised singles match since wrestling Jon Moxley at Revolution in March, so you'd think the promotion would put a bit more emphasis on that.
