4 Ups & 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Nov 15)

Of course The Undertaker's comeback was one of the highlights of the night.

It was obviously good to see Edge (and his marvellous beard) again, but he's on the Network all the time anyway. His appearance was significant, but not as important as The Deadman's, who hadn't been seen on WWE programming since WrestleMania 32.

SmackDown's closing segment kicked-off with a James Ellsworth-centric edition of the Cutting Edge that saw AJ Styles take the brunt of everyone's jokes, and then the gong struck. As announced, The Undertaker emerged to close the show, and in one of the night's biggest surprises, announce his (seemingly) permanent return to the active roster.

In his own words, Taker is no longer a WrestleMania exclusive. He'll be back on a semi-active schedule for the first time in years, and warned SD's wrestlers that if they fall at Survivor Series, they'd have him to answer to.

The Undertaker's appearance raises a lot of questions, but there are a number of strong matches for him on SmackDown's current roster. AJ Styles and John Cena make perfect sense, but there's also Dean Ambrose, or the revitalised Miz and Dolph Ziggler. However often he works, it's great to have him back, and though his career's clearly winding down, Taker won't be stuck for things to do while he's still around.

WWE made a smart move in closing SmackDown 900 with Taker's comeback. It was always going to be the night's biggest talking point, and it closed the show on a high note. Two thumbs up for delivering on the hype, and unexpectedly bringing The Undertaker back on an increased schedule.
