4 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (12 Sept - Results & Review)

1. None Of This Is Over

Michin Giulia

Sweet lord, this is starting to get brutal.

B-FAB was attacked by Kiana James and Giulia before her scheduled match with the latter, so it didn’t happen. Then, Michin raced out to the most tepid of pops to make the save with a kendo stick. Surely Triple H can see that Michin isn’t over as a babyface with fans, and that there’s next to no interest in seeing her wrestle Giulia for the Women’s United States Title. Like, is he even paying attention?

That belt has been lagging right behind the Women’s Intercontinental Title on Raw since Chelsea Green lost it, to be perfectly honest. There will be (deserved) serious concerns about Giulia’s title reign amongst her fanbase if this is all they have for her. Someone print this in 50ft tall letters and place it outside WWE HQ: "Michin is not a strong enough challenger for this kind of setting".

WWE must do more to present her as such if they're determined to book it anyway. Where are the promos explaining her story? What exactly is her character other than plug-in babyface challenger? Why do her and B-FAB have one another's backs in the first place? None of those questions have been answered, and it sucks.

Giulia's core strength as a performer is working competitive matches. She's completely lost out there when doing this sort of thing, and it's hardly like Kiana even cut a promo on her behalf to add some context. It's mission impossible for stories like this to fly with fans if WWE's writing team don't seem to care themselves.
