4 Ups & 4 Downs Before WWE SummerSlam 2017

3. So Many Matches Have Been Given Away On Free TV

This week alone, WWE TV has featured no less than three of the matches people are being expected to pay for come SummerSlam. On Raw, Akira Tozawa defeated Neville to become the new Cruiserweight Champion and Bray Wyatt beat Finn Bálor clean as a whistle. Then, SmackDown hosted The Usos vs. The New Day.

Did WWE creative run out of ideas or something? Why are they putting so many confirmed pay-per-view matches on free television the same week as SummerSlam? Sure, it'll be Big E and Xavier Woods on Sunday instead of Woods and Kofi Kingston against The Usos, but that's not a major difference. There are too many repeats.

When it comes to Bálor and Wyatt, WWE should have booked an in-ring angle instead of a match. The bloodbath idea still could've worked without the unnecessary clean loss for Finn. There's also a chance SummerSlam's rematch will be given less time than the 11 minutes they received on Raw, meaning the free match may end up being better.
