4 Ups & 4 Downs Before WWE SummerSlam 2017

Those feeling WWE should have left that fist bump for SummerSlam need to remember that pay-per-views don't work quite the same way they used to. WWE television (including pay-per-view) is episodic in nature, meaning creative could afford to use this mini-Shield reunion on the Raw before SummerSlam rather than on Sunday.

Besides, when Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins put their differences aside to perform the trademark pose, it was one of the most electrifying moments of 2017 thus far. The brawling portion of Raw's opening segment only sold the idea that these guys needed to get animosity out of their respective systems, only to then come together and fight side-by-side when Cesaro and Sheamus showed up.

The reaction to that fist bump was massive. WWE are onto something here. If they can show restraint and resist shoving Roman Reigns in for a full reunion until after WrestleMania, then it'll mean more in the long run to fans yearning for the trio to get back together.
