4 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage (June 3)

1. Athena’s Fine In-Ring Debut

Well, AEW just took a midweek whinge about Athena shooting to the top of the TBS Title challenger tree, balled it up and tossed it into the trash. The ex-WWE star's in-ring debut on Rampage was one of the best free TV women's matches All Elite has served up in a good while.

Special mention for Kiera Hogan, by the way. She didn't try to upstage Athena with too many flashy spots of her own. Instead, Hogan concentrated on being a solid base for the AEW newbie to fly around, and even worked in some nice slow beatdown heat that gave the match ebb and flow.

This was a winner for both ladies, and Athena's finish is always going to impress. Now, Athena has a company win to brag about and can challenge Jade Cargill for that belt credibly. Cargill can also learn a lot from working with this woman.

Great start for the artist formerly known as Ember Moon.
