4 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage (June 9)

1. The Upside

Here's that upside to combat the main event's downside.

Was it messier than JR trying to call a Young Bucks spotfest? Yes. All of that got washed away when Skye Blue scored the biggest win of her AEW career to date and secured a coming Women's Title crack vs. Toni Storm though. Skye's emotion told the full story. This was massive for her.

Britt Baker would've been the most obvious choice to win. Nyla Rose, meanwhile, would've been the most boring (especially when she literally just lost a TBS Title match to Kris Statlander on Dynamite recently). Mercedes Martinez vs. Toni wouldn't have been too compelling either.

Giving Blue the win is certainly a fresh approach. It's hard to begrudge her this moment too - Skye has been deserving of a proper chance for a while now, and she's been visibly improving match-after-match. Stick her in the same category as Willow Nightingale in terms of women who need more TV time.

Great decision.
