4 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Rampage (Sept 2)

3. Better Late Than Never

The Acclaimed Billy Gunn Keith Lee Swerve Strickland
AEW

Time to admit something (again): Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland as AEW Tag-Team Champions has completely passed this viewer by. Honestly, he can't wait for them to drop the things so big Keith can get back in the singles mix. It'd also be pretty cool if The Acclaimed got a run with those belts.

Now for the positive. Swerve and Keith's promo duel with Max Caster and Anthony Bowens didn't eat up too much TV time but did get this guy excited to see them wrestle. If only AEW would learn that this kind of build would be perfectly acceptable over the course of weeks/months rather than 48 hours before a cold pay-per-view clash.

Everything has been so rushed lately.

Strickland's line about rock beating scissors was clever too, in fairness. This short, punchy promo built anticipation for a killer match between both squads, and that's all anyone could really ask for when Swerve In Our Glory's tag reign has been pushed to the background.
