4 Ups & 5 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling (25 Nov)

2. Two Weddings And (Almost) A Funeral

IMPACT Wrestling typically achieves the soap opera side of professional wrestling better than most promotions, with last night's wedding between Swingerella #1 and Johnny Swinger, and then with John E. Bravo acting to prove this point.

Though it was one of the Anthem-helmed promotion's weaker performances, seeing as it relied a bit too much on the facial reactions and cheeky one-liners, it remained a solid segment to pass the threshold. Swinger's vows were classic Swinger behaviour, while the revelation that John E. Bravo was in fact in love with Swingerella #1 instead served as a decent twist, seeing as it meant Rosemary now couldn't take his virgin blood. Eddie Edwards, too, was enjoyable throughout, having been effectively drugged by Rosemary before he could unveil Decay's grand plan.

This wasn't supposed to be taken seriously. Unlike WWE last spring, where Otis and Mandy Rose were, for a time, at the forefront of their programming, Bravo and Swingerella #1 aren't going to crop up every week in some attempt at a romantic skit. It may never be referenced again, in all honesty. That's why it worked so well. IMPACT is arguably at its best when they're producing intended comedy.
