4 Ups & 5 Downs From Impact Wrestling Genesis 2021
3. Monkey Business
Crazzy Steve vs. Tre LaMar rounded off the first round of the Super X Cup in spectacular fashion, for the most part. Unlike KC Navarro and Blake Christian, who both competed on Tuesday's Impact Wrestling broadcast, this was our first taste of Tre on canon Impact programming.
For a debut performance, he displayed fantastic athleticism that we only see from world-class performers. The Pele kick he connected with early on, for example, was exquisite. Had he kept this up for the entirety of the bout, then maybe we would be classing this match as an Up.
The main problem here is that LaMar was petrified of Crazzy Steve's schtick. He's a sadistic clown. At this point, Steve's gimmick is more focused on him being blind as opposed to him being a sadist. Tre shouldn't be fleeing the ring at the mere sight of Steve's stuffed money toy.
Steve's middle-rope Russian leg sweep and match-winning diving DDT were exceptional highlights for the former Decay man. Had Tre won without being scared of Kurious Kevin, though, we would have had only positive things to mention in here.
