4 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Raw (27 May - Results & Review)
2. Valkyria Perseveres
WWE very clearly views Lyra Valkyria as someone fans should rally behind and follow, and they showed that clearly Monday night on the heels of her losing in the Queen of the Ring finals this past weekend.
Earlier, Becky Lynch stopped by to give Lyra a pep talk in the locker room, telling her to learn from her defeats. Then, Valkyria went out and fought through her injured ribs to eke out a victory over Kairi Sane by blocking an Insane Elbow and immediately capitalizing with a crucifix pin.
Valkyria got a nice push through the tournament, knocking off Iyo Sky in the semifinals and hanging with Nia Jax on Saturday, but everyone has seen WWE drop the ball on someone after a big loss before. That’s why it was heartening that Lyra got some screentime with her mentor and then went out and picked up a win, getting right back in the saddle.
If Lynch truly is on the way out, Valkyria could be a rising star to help fill that tremendous void. And if Becky re-signs, Lyra still should be a major player in the women’s division. It looks like she and Iyo have some unfinished business as well.
