4 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE SmackDown (13 June - Results & Review)

2. 2nd Women’s 4-Way Is A Struggle

Charlotte Flair vs. Alba Fyre vs. Candice LeRae vs. Alexa Bliss was arguably the weakest Fatal-4-Way in the King or Queen Of The Ring tournaments thus far. Fans clearly weren’t into the rinse and repeat double beatdown heat stuff from Fyre and LeRae, because it was the same thing they’d watched Nia Jax and Piper Niven do earlier in the night.

For the record, this was supposed to be Chelsea Green's match, but she said she had travel issues and wanted to postpone. GM Nick Aldis was having none of that, so he forced Alba in as a last-minute sub. That's fine, and it's hardly like Chelsea missed anything special by skipping this week's show. Her rebuild post-Women's United States Title reign continues.

Personally, this writer likes the story beat of Flair being on a downward trend too, ‘cause it’s something different for her career. The finish was well executed (Flair had Fyre in a submission whilst Bliss pinned Candice), but the match passed everyone by for the most part. Suppose that’s what happens when you’re booking so many 4-Ways in a short, concentrated period of TV, especially when we just had a multi-wrestler focused PLE like Money In The Bank as well.

WWE could use a strict diet of straight up singles matches and tags for a while. There have been far too many multi-wrestler bouts over the past month or so on TV. Overall, this one suffered because it had nothing new to say. Of course, it wasn't alone in that respect - some of the company's biggest stars struggled too...
