4 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Aug 21)
2. The 'Fiend' Refusing To Help Braun
SmackDown opened with Bray Wyatt's 'Fiend' crashing the scene to confront Vince McMahon. From there, Braun Strowman came out, Vince fled and Retribution showed up. It seemed for one brief second that WWE would make a major mistake and have Braun and Bray team up to fend off the hooligans.
Nuh-uh, said Mr. 'Fiend'.
He disappeared and left Strowman to take a kicking from the gang before SmackDown's roster ran out to help him. That made sense. Why in the name of heck would Bray's menacing alter ego want to fight with Strowman, and why would he care about anyone else in WWE besides himself?
If anything, he'd welcome the chaos Retribution are bringing to his doorstep. Thank God WWE saw sense here and didn't think the old 'enemies were forced to team up' trope would work for their rivalry. That could've killed their Universal Title match dead before SummerSlam.
