4 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Jan 8)

2. Botching Sonya Deville's Purpose

Also, what the hell are they playing at with Sonya Deville?

Get this: Sonya was sick and tired of playing background noise to Mandy Rose's good looks last year. She split from Rose because of that and promised to ruin her face. Then, once she failed to do that, Deville disappeared to take care of some real life stuff and has returned as Adam Pearce's assistant.

So, Sonya doesn't want to put up with Mandy hogging all the spotlight but will happily fetch Pearce's coffee? That's totally illogical behaviour from someone who was developing into SmackDown's dominant alpha female in 2020. This better be a short-term thing and not some crap booking strategy that was penned at 7pm on Friday evening.

Nobody needs the hilarious scraps and jams that this assistant trope usually comes with. Sonya deserves better than calling back up plays for Pearce - that's not a knock on him really, just the truth. She's too good for this minor role.
