4 Ups & 6 Downs From AEW Dynamite (June 4)

5. Conspiracies, Conspiracies

This feels distinctly familiar too.

Don Callis and Kenny Omega are threatening to blow the lid off some conspiracy theory that's supposed to take the AEW World Title from their midst. Hmm. A once-popular wrestler whinging about a promotional plot to undermine and then destroy him at champion - that sounds a lot like what Sami Zayn is doing in WWE.

Milking the same cow at the exact same time (Sami's story is still ongoing) is questionable. The big gag is that, of course, there is no conspiracy against Omega. He knows it, Callis knows it, the fans know it, the announcers know it and eventual one-on-one challenger Orange Cassidy knows it.

The story would be fine if WWE hadn't already established their own conspiracy nut character on SmackDown since the turn of the year. Worse, Zayn's gimmick has been a riot, so it's not like AEW can improve on it with Omega. Nor should they try to.
