4 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE NXT WarGames 2021
2. Another Nothing Match
Grimes vs. Hudson wasn't the only story that was half-baked heading into WarGames - Roderick Strong's angle with Joe Gacy was another bout that lacked some sizzle before the show. WWE's inclusivity approach is rather underdeveloped, and it reeks of the company trying to seem trendy or current.
Also, after all that, the Cruiserweight Title is still the...Cruiserweight Title.
Strong's defence was another match that had free weekly television written all over it. There was nothing about the eight-minute scuffle you should go out of your way to see. Honestly, nothing. This dime-a-dozen showing made a mockery of the title represented, and WWE are no further forwards with changes they obviously want to make.
Perhaps the only slightly interesting aspect was big Harland almost putting his hands on Ivy Nile. Other than that, this was skippable. Christ knows where Gacy goes from here, or what Roderick's Diamond Mine will do if WWE whips the Cruiser belt from their midst.
