4 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Raw (3 July - Review)

1. Maybe Re-Establish A Division First

Tag Team Turmoil

The idea of spotlighting 10 women vying for a shot at the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship is one way to call attention to the titles.

But timing is important, and just 48 hours after crowning new champs because the former champs imploded, maybe having three pairs teaming together for the first time on Raw (and two established teams) showing up to compete for the #1 contenders’ spot wasn’t the best idea.

Would it have killed them to have a week with Indi Hartwell getting her Raw debut teaming with Candice LeRae and picking up a win to establish them? Or a backstage segment with Tegan Nox, who hasn’t had a Raw or SmackDown match since March (and just seven since returning to the company last year)?

Instead, this felt very thrown together, with no reason for fans to invest in the match or any of the teams. Even the eventual winners, who are an established tag team, had won only two of their seven tag matches since forming in March, and none since mid-April.

And WWE wonders why no one cares about this tag division or the titles themselves.
