4 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Raw (July 19)
Downs…
6. Waste Of KO’s Return
Granted, being gone from WWE for four weeks isn’t a long absence, but if you’re going to book Kevin Owens’ first appearance back, wouldn’t you do more than what we got Monday night?
Oh sure, Owens’ KO Show with Riddle was much more entertaining than it had any right to be – his Bro-KO joke was great – but he simply said he sought inner calm, wanted to befriend Riddle, and then left when Seth Rollins attacked the Original Bro.
In reality, Owens was superfluous to this segment. You could have had any talk show and gotten the same result. At first, you might have assumed Owens would have shown up during Rollins’ match, or something else, but no.
Not every return can be electric, and maybe there’s more in the very near future, but this didn’t feel like a return of any significance, just a need to get a body on the show. And that’s really a shame, because Owens is easily one of Raw’s most versatile and valuable puzzle pieces.
