4 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Sept 18)

1. A (Largely) Filler Episode

It's true that not every wrestling show can be a winner.

Even so, WWE clearly could've done without Friday's edition of SmackDown. Bruce Prichard has to be begging for Clash Of Champions to come around so he can wrap up some of these throwaway stories and start focusing on Hell In A Cell. That's how SmackDown came across, at least.

Other than the Intercontinental and Women's Title scenarios, WWE could have easily skipped Friday's episode and not lost any sleep heading into the next pay-per-view. There was a definite filler vibe to most things that happened on the show, which (to be fair) is going to happen from time to time.

It'd be nice to see a little bit more from some of the stories though. Roman Reigns vs. Jey Uso is chugging along nicely, but probably needs one more big story beat before anyone will be truly invested in their clash at the...Clash.
