4 Ups & 7 Downs From This Week's Impact Wrestling (May 24)

1. Wrong Era

In fairness, the main event Extreme Rules Match between Rob Van Dam and Tommy Dreamer wasn’t the worst match of all time. Sure, it wasn’t the cleanest but then again, they’re both aged 48 so it’s not exactly going to be a seven and a half star slobberknocker.

The reason it’s on this side of the Ups and Downs spectrum is because it main evented the show. When you have a roster full of rising and already established independent talents, it should be any combination of them closing out, not two guys who rose to fame throughout the ’90s. Not only that, but Sabu popped in later on to help fend off Moose and The North. Just what we needed: another old guy coming in.

Seeing as this is how the night’s proceedings came to an end, this whole thing with the ECW names isn’t over. There’s three guys on either side, and so a six man tag team match has been scheduled for next week, likely as the main event. It's rather obvious who'll be winning that one...
