4 Ups & 8 Downs From WWE Raw (Aug 24)

2. We’re Getting Wacky Tag Partners

Why does WWE suck so royally at doing tag teams? It feels like the only things they know how to do is have dissension and breakups of duos, or have wacky partners that don’t get along team up.

It looks like we’re getting the latter with Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax, who brawled and were hurling insults on Raw before they stopped fighting when they realized the Golden Role Models were egging them on. Basler and Jax stopped fighting to stare down and chase off Bayley and Sasha Banks, who just so happen to be the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, and who just so happen to be defending those titles on Sunday at Payback, and it just so happens that we didn't know who their opponents would be at that time.

WWE seems to love this sort of trope, so we’re getting this, whether we want it or not. It’s not like we don’t have established women’s tag teams like the IIconics, Riott Squad, Natalya & Lana, Jessamyn Duke & Marina Shafir, or Nikki Cross & Alexa Bliss.

Nope, Nia and Shayna even sealed it in a backstage segment later and it was made official moments later. Thank goodness, because we don’t have any other women’s tag teams in WWE.
