4 Ups & 8 Downs From WWE Raw (March 8)

7. Exposition Regurgitation

Hey, just in case you skipped over the three-minute video recap to open Monday Night Raw, Miz was here to spend an additional five minutes relaying all the same points over again.

As stupid as that might sound, that’s exactly what happened, as Miz decided to tell us all about his stalling tricks: stomach cramps, getting counted out, having to defend the title again in a lumberjack match, and losing his WWE Championship.

It was a bunch of unnecessary exposition that just wasted time. It’s a reminder that three hours of Raw doesn’t mean better programming; it means more time that has to be filled. In this case, it meant getting a promo that laid no new groundwork whatsoever and just let Miz narrate the video after it had already played.

This is the sort of thing that makes you wonder why fans hang around after the opening 15-minute promo segments at all.
