5. A Fresh Matchup

The Miz Kofi Kingston

Nothing against Kofi Kingston, who is a fun and engaging wrestler even after all these years, but his match against Miz for the final spot in the Elimination Chamber was about adding a wrestler who has been seen on WWE television going back at least a decade.

Both Kofi and John Morrison (who would have earned a spot in the chamber if Miz had won) have been kicking around WWE for eons, and either would have been added to the mix after a singles match between two men who have literally been wrestling each other for 12 years.

Miz and Kingston have battled over the Intercontinental Championship, United States Championship, various tag titles and other title shots throughout the years, with dozens of matches against each other – and none that really stand out. And Monday’s match was the same: it didn’t really stand out. It was a perfectly competent match between two professionals, and that was it.

And thus, Kofi is in the Elimination Chamber, joining a bunch of other long-tenured WWE wrestlers. But more on that later…
