4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (July 22)

2. Vaudevillains Being Rushed Into Title Match

Last night it was announced that the Vaudevillains' title shot is scheduled for next week, which cast a dark shadow of doom over their chances. There has been zero interaction between the champs and the challengers, which robs almost all of the unpredictability from the contest. The Vaudevillains have no chance of walking away with the belts. It's true that, in Brooklyn, the smart team to take the gold would be Enzo and Big Cass; after all, with their gimmick they'll be given a heroes welcome, especially Colin Cassady who was born and raised in Queens. However, does this mean the Vaudevillains should be an afterthought, that they're not worthy of a proper program with the champs? Absolutely not, especially after the performance they put in last night. Both chaps looked in fine fettle against Dawkins and Fulton, especially Simon Gotch who introduced a brand new method of kicking someone in the face i.e. grabbing your own foot and hitting someone in the face with it. Perhaps there could have been some interaction between the challengers and Blake & Murphy, but instead, nada, a mere backstage segment with the doofus champs and their excellent manager. Here's hoping that there's a greater storyline at play here, because right now the Manliest Tag Team in WWE's title shot feels like a mere formality at this point.
