4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE Smackdown (Apr 30)

2. The New Day And Kidd/Cesaro Are Building A Tag Team Rivalry

The New Day deserves a lot of credit for their heel work. They had an act that bombed horribly as faces, which perhaps was WWE's plan all along and now that they are heels they are riding a lot of momentum. They have done so well that WWE decided to put the Tag Titles on them at Extreme Rules even though Cesaro and Tyson Kidd were doing well during their two month reign as champions. The Tag Team Titles were on the line with Cesaro and Kidd getting their rematch after losing last Sunday. There were all kinds of nearfalls, spots that the fans loved (that swing into the dropkick is amazing) and even though it ended in a disqualification it fit the story. Just because there was a DQ finish does not make it bad. In terms of quality matches, these teams deliver. The more times they wrestle, the better the match will be. The WWE tag team division is at a bit of a crossroads right now, but these teams can certainly help to put things in the right direction. WWE still has to do a better job of making Cesaro and Kidd babyfaces by doing some promos to establish them in that role, but this is a fun feud that will likely deliver one of the better matches at Payback if they have a match there.
