4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night’s WWE SmackDown (Aug 13)

Only four matches. Is that a good thing?

Smackdown remains the show that features really good midcard babyfaces in featured roles while WWE Champion Seth Rollins always seems to be in the thick of things. It makes the show feel important when Rollins is there because he has matches with those guys that fans want to see more of. This week, the midcard babyfaces that stepped up were Cesaro and Neville, who are two of the finest performers from Europe. In watching the show, you can also tell that the crowd genuinely likes these guys. It's not like they are getting piped in cheers or the announcers are forcing people to like them. They are cheered because they are good and the more opportunity they get to work with a guy at Rollins' level, the better it is for the company. Here are the results from the show. Charlotte defeated Naomi clean by submission with the Figure Eight. Roman Reigns defeated Luke Harper by disqualification when Bray Wyatt interfered. The Prime Time Players defeated The New Day's Big E & Xavier Woods by pinfall when Young pinned Woods. It was a non-title match. Seth Rollins & Kevin Owens defeated Neville & Cesaro when Rollins pinned Cesaro by holding onto his trunks for leverage. That was all there was this week. It's time to talk about the ups and downs from this week's Smackdown...
