4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night’s WWE SmackDown (Aug 13)
Ups...
4. Only Four Matches In Two Hours
I can't remember the last time WWE had a Smackdown with only four matches. In reviewing this show every week, it's easy to pick up on the trends. Most weeks they have five matches. This week they went with just four. Even with four matches in two hours, the flow of the show was just fine. There were interviews mixed in as well as the typical hyping of Raw stuff with a special look at the Undertaker and Brock Lesnar on Raw at the same time. That stuff doesn't bother me especially since I DVR the show, so I can just zip through it. If Raw did something like this where they only had two matches per hour they would waste so much time with backstage skits or in-ring segments that are poor. With Smackdown, they do a much better job of making the segments feel a bit more worthwhile. That doesn't mean that Smackdown is the most exciting show or that it's any more important than it has been. It just means that WWE seems to have found a format that works.
