4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (June 18)

1. Opening Segment Leads To Tag Team Main Event Formula Strikes Once Again

It's become almost a joke that the opening segment on Smackdown leads to a main event tag team match. If you watch the show as a casual fan you may not notice it, but the lazy booking shows that WWE management really doesn't care about this show. Does the creative team sit in meeting all day on Tuesday trying to think of ideas on what to do on Smackdown, then Vince McMahon shrugs his shoulders and says: "Let's do an opening segment that leads to a main event." He must say something like that because it happens nearly every week! This week's setup was done after a handicap match where Kane and Sheamus went against Dean Ambrose ended with Roman Reigns coming out for the save. If Kane booked the handicap match, why would he want to book a regular match after? Because wrestling doesn't make sense. Please think of something different, WWE. This formula is far too repetitive by this point.
