Setting aside the finish of the match, the WWE Championship bout between AJ Styles and Samoa Joe was a pretty damn good one.

The two seesawed back and forth throughout the match, trading their signature moves and coming close to putting the other man down for the count. Joe turned a powerbomb into a Boston Crab, which he transitioned into an STF and then a crossface. AJ hit an impressive spinout rack bomb and a springboard 450 splash.

The end did tarnish the overall enjoyment of the match, but hopefully the Super Show-Down rematch will be definitive and provide closure to this feud. Two inconclusive finishes is the upper limit for this rivalry. Another one and it’s officially time to fire some writers.
