Sooner or later, WWE won’t be able to protect Ronda Rousey if they continue running her out there on Raw and PPVs to wrestle. And since she’s Raw Women’s Champion, she’s going to have high-profile singles matches.

But Sunday night, she handled herself pretty decently, fending off Alexa Bliss while dealing with injured ribs. The ribs were a late wrinkle for the new champ, added to give Bliss a bullseye to attack – and a believable chance of winning the match. (Because otherwise, the diminutive challenger didn’t stand a chance.)

The match still lasted too long, with Rousey selling too much (although she was pretty good at it) before “hulking up” and unloading on Alexa to defend her title. Of course, Mickie James and Alicia Fox were at ringside to provide distractions, which also helped.

Hopefully, Rousey will continue to improve and learn as she goes, because at some point, the company will run out of tricks to protect her.
