4 Ups And 9 Downs From WWE Legends Raw (Jan 4)

6. Wasting Legends

There was a time when having a “legends night” or Old School Raw was a fun event, a big deal for fans. We got to see long-lost wrestlers of the past interact with today’s superstars, sometimes in really fun, creative segments.

But since then, it’s devolved into a game of cramming as many former superstars into meaningless backstage segments as possible. Truly quantity over quality. We got Angel Garza flirting with Alicia Fox for 15 seconds before stumbling upon Sgt. Slaughter, Mickie James and Tatanka (because in what universe would those three be together?). Then IRS and Molly Holly were chatting with Ric Flair before disappearing so Randy Orton could berate the Nature Boy.

Melina, who has been rumored to be returning to WWE, showed up, but only to chant along with Lucha House Party backstage for 10 seconds. And Torrie Wilson was having a nothing conversation with Nikki Cross before Angel Garza showed up to flirt again. At least she duped him, but it was into the only manner in which they know how to use the Boogieman. Oh, and then Ron Simmons said, “Damn!”

Seriously, it was just meaningless appearance after meaningless appearance. Sure, Hulk Hogan’s interaction with Drew McIntyre was nice, and Orton tormenting Big Show, Mark Henry and Flair at least had a purpose of sorts, but so much of this was a total waste.

Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
