4 Ups And 9 Downs From WWE Legends Raw (Jan 4)

5. We Get It, Orton’s A Jerk

Watching Randy Orton torment legends such as Big Show (when did he become a legend?), Mark Henry and Ric Flair, and then defeating legend-in-waiting Jeff Hardy, there really was only one payoff that would suffice to all of this.

So naturally, we didn’t get it Monday night.

Orton’s taunting of these broken-down wrestlers was tired – we saw this all summer as he went after legends leading into his feud with Drew McIntyre – and repetitive, as this meant we got a recap segment, a backstage interview, and then three of these backstage legend segments, all before Orton’s match against Jeff Hardy.

The only thing that would have redeemed all of this was the direction it seemed they were going. After targeting legends all night, why not have one legend in particular finally stand up to him? No, not Hulk Hogan.

Edge.

What a perfect way to bring Edge back then to have him stand up to Orton after the Viper had gone after so many legends. But no, that apparently was too much to ask for here. Otherwise, why do this? We already knew Orton was a big jerk.
