4 Ups And Downs From Last Night's WWE Smackdown (Jan 15)

3. Bad News Barrett Looked Dominant

It was a bit of a downer last week to see that Sin Cara beat new Intercontinental Champion Bad News Barrett clean on Smackdown. Sin Cara isn't really that relevant on the main roster anymore, so people were upset about why they did it. After watching this show, it was easy to see why it was done. Barrett needed a dominant win over an opponent, so they picked Sin Cara because he's an easy guy to beat. Losing non-title matches really don't matter too much because as mentioned earlier they happen all the time on WWE TV whether we like it or not. They are done to set up future matches like this one. This match was short and a dominant win by Barrett after three minutes. He outsmarted Sin Cara, he overpowered him and then he knocked him out with the Bull Hammer elbow after Sin Cara did a leap off the middle ropes. The reason it's an "up" is because putting IC Title matches regularly on television is something WWE has to do more often. Give Barrett more wins like this. It makes the title mean more while also making Barrett look like a bigger star.
