4 Ups And Downs From Last Night's WWE Smackdown (Jan 15)

2. The Heyman-Rollins Promo Confrontation Was Intense

There was a promo faceoff during the midpoint of the show. Paul Heyman was in the ring talking about the contract signing from Raw when Seth Rollins came out with J&J Security to confront him. Rollins was all fired up. He actually wanted to cash in the Money in the Bank briefcase on Lesnar, but of course he wasn't there. Rollins threatened Heyman, so Heyman fired with a great response by saying that it wasn't very original because everybody does that. Well done Paul. That's why he's the best talker in the business because he makes a lot of sense. Rollins defended his threat by saying that it would be smart because then he would be taking away Lesnar's greatest asset. He made a good point too by saying that he's given Lesnar a Curb Stomp twice and at the Rumble he'll do it a third time. By the end of the promo, Heyman said that he had gained a lot of power because of Lesnar's impressive WWE Title reign and pointed out that if the Authority was removed before, they could be again, so perhaps Heyman could get even more power again. It wasn't the most impressive promo you're going to see from either guy. However, they accomplished enough by continuing the story and building up to the Royal Rumble WWE Title match without Lesnar or Cena to help it.
