5 Awful Wrestling Halloween Gimmick Matches You Need To Know About

4. Divas Halloween Costume Battle Royal

I told you it could get worse! Which brings me to the Divas Fancy Dress Battle Royal.

This concept, originally started back in 2005, was conceived as part of the fantastic rivalry between Trish Stratus & Mickie James. James dressed up as Stratus for the battle royal (complete with a championship belt that she€™d raise in the air). Both women were fantastic with their facial expressions and using subtle nuances to get fans invested into the angle.

Sadly, this was the last time the Halloween Costume Battle Royal would be used to advance a storyline. Sporadically from 2006 through to 2014, we€™d get the Divas coming out in different sexy costumes for...well, to get the divas out there in sexy costumes.

In the past year, with the women of NXT working incredibly hard to change the perception of what a Diva can be by having kickass matches as opposed to lingerie and bikini shoots, it seems like WWE have canned the concept of this battle royal (which is probably for the best).

However, special costume mentions go to The Bellas for their effort in 2011 when they dressed as Mario and Luigi from Super Mario Bros, Brie Bella as Daniel Bryan (complete with beard) in 2014 and Michelle McCool as Lady GaGa in 2010.
