5 Best And 5 Worst Reluctant WWE Tag Team Champions

5. Best 5. (Tie) Steve Austin And Shawn Michaels/Dude Love

These teams were both extremely short lived as they were cut short due to injuries to Michaels and Austin respectively, but they made for some incredibly entertaining television moments. Michaels and Austin made strange bedfellows as they both had a common enemy in Bret Hart and The Hart Foundation. In one of the best matches in Raw history at that time, Austin and HBK defeated Owen Hart and The British Bulldog to end their 9-month reign as champions.  Very shortly after that match, Shawn was injured, and Austin needed to find a new partner.

This led to a series of funny segments where Mankind, who had recently turned babyface, was trying to get Steve to pick him as his partner. After Austin rebuked Mankind on numerous occasions, usually with a Stunner, Mick Foley went to another alter ego to be Stone Cold’s partner. In a rematch against Owen and Bulldog, Austin went at it alone, but then Dude Love showed up for the first time. Austin and Dude beat Owen and Bulldog, and then Austin handed the second tag team championship belt to Dude, acknowledging that he accepted Dude as his partner, a big moment for a guy whose motto was Don’t Trust Anybody.

Sadly, this tag team didn’t last long either, as Austin was injured at SummerSlam and had to forfeit the tag team titles.
