5 Best Interviews In Power Slam Magazine History

3. Steve Austin - Issue 6 (1994)

When Power Slam launched, it was an interesting time in the wrestling industry for a lot of the talent who would go on to find success in the late 90€™s.

Steve Austin spoke to Fin in December 1994, when he was still a part of WCW. The company had instructed Martin to conduct the interview in a kayfabe manner and reference storylines. €œWe made sure to be kayfabe compliant but Austin was such a laugh and said a lot of stuff that wasn€™t kayfabe friendly€.

Stunning Steve had just had his run with Hacksaw Jim Duggan over the US Title, and the editor remembers Austin€™s reaction very clearly, revealing that €œSteve was not happy losing the belt to Duggan. He suffered an injury in a rematch with Hacksaw but made it very clear he wasn€™t happy where his career was going in WCW€.

Austin had been tossed aside in Atlanta when Hulk Hogan came in with all of his friends and demanded they got pushes, readers got a real sense of how frustrated Steve was with the situation in a rare chat where the future Stone Cold wasn€™t keen to tow the company line.
