5 Best Interviews In Power Slam Magazine History

2. Shane Douglas - Issue 20 (1996)

Shane Douglas - Issue 20 (February 1996)

1995 was one of the worst creative years for the WWF in company history. There€™s no bigger example of this than when they signed Shane Douglas, who€™d been cutting excellent promos and tearing it up in ECW, to turn him into a lame high school teacher named 'Dean' Douglas.

Douglas spoke to PS about his dismal run in McMahonland. Martin remembers that €œHe went into detail about his run and about how little money he made with WWF because the house show attendance was so poor and just how miserable the whole experience was for him€.

One of the key subject matters in the interview was The Kliq. Douglas almost comically talked about how he loathed working with Razor Ramon. This interview was groundbreaking for the magazine because, at the time, guys didn€™t open up and vent in the way that Troy Martin did in Power Slam.

One of Douglas€™ best observations from the 1996 chat when you look back on it twenty years later was €œIt hit me when we were on the tour, why Hunter Hearst Helmsley€™s in the Kliq, it hit me - he carries the bags€.
