5 Best Wrestling Tag-Teams That Never Were
2. CM Punk & Daniel Bryan
The next two tags sort of happened, albeit never as full-time acts.
Indeed, the indy fan wet dream that was CM Punk teaming with Daniel Bryan happened only once on WWE pay-per-view. At Survivor Series 2013, they joined forces to beat Luke Harper and Erick Rowan, both of whom were acting on behalf of Bray Wyatt. After that, Punk was ousted from the feud and Bryan went after Wyatt himself.
This was a real shame. Punk and Bryan had natural chemistry, loved the same blend of strikes, big bumps and submissions, and they had organic ties through their combined struggles to even reach WWE stardom. It was a match made in heaven, one that WWE could easily have pursued as a full-time tag. Maybe that would've kept Punk happy.
Rather than experiment with the pair as a regular duo, WWE splintered Punk off into an unwanted rivalry with Kane. By the 2014 Royal Rumble, he was so p*ssed off with his lot in the company that he decided to leave. Meanwhile, Bryan went on to become World Champ.
