5 Best Wrestling Tag-Teams That Never Were

Injuries are wrestling's cruelest mistress.

In the summer of 2009, Chris Jericho and Edge formed a cavalcade of Canadian wrestling awesomeness by winning the Unified WWE Tag Titles at The Bash pay-per-view. Their win over The Colóns and the team of Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase seemed to hint that Rated-Y2J (a name we've just made up) would dominate the division for the remainder of the year.

It wasn't to be. Shortly after becoming a 12-time tag champ, Edge suffered a nasty achilles injury that benched him for the rest of 2009. That ended his association with Jericho, and, whilst it did lead to a feud between the pair, one wonders what kind of brilliance they would have shared as a team. We'll never know.

Edge and Jericho was the kind of team WWE could rely on to lead the young lions in the tag ranks through some of the best two-on-two matches in years. As good as Big Show was alongside Jericho in Jeri-Show, he wasn't a workhorse like Y2J's fellow countryman, and their team ended up having a completely different dynamic.

What other tag-teams do you know of that almost happened but didn't actually come to fruition? Let us know down in the comments section below!
