Seth Rollins returned with a head of steam at the conclusion of 2016's Extreme Rules pay-per-view following a long layoff due to injury, immediately laying waste to Roman Reigns and setting his sights on the WWE World Championship. Despite fans wanting to get behind him, officials were adamant in keeping him heel so they wouldn't have to turn Reigns.

At Money in the Bank, Rollins knocked off Reigns to regain the gold, only to lose it moments later to Dean Ambrose, who cashed in his newly won Money in the Bank contract. But more importantly, Rollins became the first man on the main roster to pin Reigns cleanly in one-on-one competition. Would that have happened had Reigns not been in hot water with the powers that be?

Granted, Reigns wasn't officially suspended for another 48 hours, but it was reportedly known days in advance he would be serving the 30 day suspension. It's very possible Rollins wouldn't have won the title at all that night otherwise.

Furthermore, with Reigns not present for the WWE Draft, Rollins was the first overall pick for Monday Night Raw, making The Architect the top dog on Raw in the process.
