3. Too Long In The Tooth
No match on the WrestleMania 36 card felt like it had the potential to steal the show as much as the Last Man Standing confrontation between Randy Orton and Edge did. A rare breed of rivalry that felt truly personal, the rich history between the men lent itself nicely to Edge's return storyline and, had this match taken place in a huge stadium it would have been a show-stopper.
The physical battle they produced at the Showcase of the Immortals will, no doubt, divide people for many reasons (including the lack of actual wrestling moves, the excessive length and repetitive angles) but, all said and done, it told one heck of a story. The only problem is that that same story could have been told far more effectively if the match hadn't dragged on so damn long.
You'd think that WWE might have used the whole pre-taping thing to their advantage and, y'know, trimmed it here and there because the pacing was all over the place. And this hurt a match that, had it been contested in the ring, may have ended up a Match Of The Year candidate.
There were glimmers of brilliance throughout - and Edge certainly still has it - and that makes the final product feel like an even greater missed opportunity. Oh, what could have been...
