5 Biggest Winners & Losers From AEW In 2024

9. Losers: Best Friends

It's been a terrible year for the extended group of Best Friends, as 2024 featured the piece-by-piece dismantling of this unit across the board.

Chuck Taylor suffered a foot injury in October 2023 that kept him out of action for a few months. By April, Trent Beretta and Orange Cassidy came up short in a tournament to crown the new tag team champions, and Trent decided to attack Cassidy, causing a huge rift.

Trent eventually beat Taylor in a Parking Lot Brawl, which would serve as Taylor's retirement match due to osteonecrosis from his prior injury.

Trent lost several times to Cassidy before joining The Don Callis Family, but before he could get the ball rolling on that push, had to be written off television to undergo neck surgery.

Cassidy was also turned on from Kris Statlander, who would also turn on another Best Friends ally and her closest partner, Willow Nightingale.

Only Cassidy and Nightingale have received sustained pushes and achieved accomplishments this year, while the rest have suffered many losses amid the dissolution of AEW's most positive, care-free group, who had spent this year duking it out instead of hugging it out.
