5 Biggest Winners & Losers From AEW In 2024
2. Winner: Bryan Danielson and Honorable Mentions
Rounding out the list of top winners this year is Bryan Danielson, who finally ascended the throne and defeated Swerve Strickland at the biggest show of the year, AEW All In: London, to win the AEW World Championship.
He didn't have the longest reign with the belt, but he etched his name in the history books, got to wrestle his close friend Nigel McGuinness (who himself is worth mentioning for finally stepping back in the ring and getting a retirement-worthy match against Danielson), and was able to put over the new Death Riders angle in a way to really kick off that faction's heat.
If his downer of an exit is too depressing for you, some other honorable mentions worth suggesting for this list could be:
Christian Cage for his overall promo skills and winning what could be a future AEW World Championship once he cashes in his contract.
Kazuchika Okada and Jack Perry for winning the AEW Continental and TNT Championships respectively.
Konosuke Takeshita for winning the AEW International Championship.
Mariah May for being the champion and top focal point in the women's division save for Mercedes Moné.
Darby Allin for his involvement in Sting's retirement and being an overall MVP of the roster.
And lastly, Kyle Fletcher for leveling up considerably and currently leading the Continental Classic leader board.
