5 Biggest Winners & Losers From WWE SmackDown Live (Oct 25)
1. Loser: Dean Ambrose
It looked like Dean Ambrose had AJ Styles’ number coming into this week's. The Lunatic Fringe had used James Ellsworth to continually infuriate the WWE Champion, and after embarrassing him for a second successive week, Ambrose provoked AJ into granting him another shot at title contendership.
Dean hasn’t fared well against AJ lately, but he was on the verge of becoming number one contender again. Ambrose looked to be in control of the match, but James Ellsworth wrecked his evening by attacking Styles to cause the DQ and end Dean’s chances of becoming WWE Champion again in the near future.
It’s hard to imagine how Ambrose’s evening could’ve gone any worse. He lost contendership through no fault of his own, and that’s a sore blow to take. Sure, he probably shouldn’t have let Ellsworth accompany him, but there was little to suggest James possessed the courage to actually stand-up to Styles. But he did, and Dean won’t make the same mistake again.
Where does Ambrose go from here? The match should effectively rule him out of any title shots in the near future, but the main event scene isn’t exactly packed with competition at the moment. Perhaps he’ll set his sights on a new target, and take his frustrations out on Mr. Ellsworth.
And now for the winners...
