SummerSlam 2016 was one of WWE’s most hotly anticipated shows of 2016 before it went on the air, but did it deliver?

Well, yes and no.

It was a night featuring a couple of notable highs and lows broken up by long periods of average-to-good wrestling. It wasn’t the “Show of the Year” candidate it could’ve been, and certainly wasn’t as consistently exciting as Battleground, but SummerSlam still produced an enjoyable night of action, and heralded a number of big changes in WWE’s New Era landscape.

Finn Balor has etched his name into the history books as WWE’s first ever Universal Champion, and Brock Lesnar re-established himself as the most terrifying force in sports entertainment history by demolishing Randy Orton in the night’s main event. Elsewhere, The New Day’s Tag Team Title reign hit the one-year mark, Charlotte’s PPV dominance continued and Dean Ambrose put Dolph Ziggler back in his place.

Every single match had something at stake, and while some matches didn’t live-up to the hype, very few wrestlers left the Barclays Center in the same position as when they’d walked in. Some WWE superstars climbed the ladder, others fell further down, and WWE’s pecking order has been shaken-up once again.

Here are the 5 biggest winners & losers from WWE SummerSlam 2016.
