5 Biggest WWE Winners & Losers In 2021

9. Loser: Cesaro

Truly, 2021 has been a year of two halves for the Swiss superstar. In February he began a rise from the midcard, beating Daniel Bryan and entering into a great feud with Seth Rollins that peaked with a clean win in his first WrestleMania singles match (and one of the card’s best).

He followed that with an excellent WrestleMania Backlash match against Roman Reigns, in which he took the dominant champ to the limit and looked right at home in the main event.

Then, as per, it all slid back downhill. He burned off his angle with Rollins, who ultimately won, didn’t get past the first round of the King Of The Ring tournament, and is now half-heartedly sparring with Sheamus (and the Irishman’s odd little pal). There’s no doubt these two can put on exceptional matches together, but we’ve seen them do it many, many times before.

It’s better to have loved and lost, and the ‘Mania match is a memory for the ages, but the latter end of 2021 has been miserable for the prodigiously talented Cesaro. It’s made all the worse by the fact we’ve seen for sure he can hang with the big boys. If not now, then when?
