5 Biggest WWE Winners & Losers In 2021
2. Winner: Big E
One of the true feel-good stories of WWE’s 2021 has been Big E’s progress as a singles star. Last Christmas, they gave him the Intercontinental Title, and the very next year he became WWE Champion for the first time.
Anyone who has followed E’s career will have known that he had the total package for a long time, and at long last, he’s been given the chance to prove it. Nabbing the briefcase at Money In The Bank was a major moment; wrenching the belt from Bobby Lashley’s vice-like grip on Raw was even better.
It’s a sign of WWE’s faith in the big man that they had him announce his intentions on Twitter prior to the broadcast in order to pop the rating. It worked: the WWE universe loves this man, and wants to see him succeed.
Just where he’ll be able to take the belt remains to be seen, but few have had as impactful a year as the New Day man. From a hard-hitting (if short) WrestleMania midcard match to clean wins over Drew McIntyre and Kevin Owens, Big E is, in this moment, the guy.
